Kahlid Watson, SARA
Khalid Watson is a Graduate of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture in Brooklyn, NY, where he currently resides. But originally, he's from southern Virginia, where he cultivated a foundation in fine arts, with a focus in painting.
Prior to starting his private practice in 2006 with Belgian interior designer Dominic Gasparoly, Khalid worked for various diverse architectural firms. They included Reiser and Umemoto Architects, Eisenman Architects, and The Rockwell Group, which is where he met his mentor, who later became his current business partner at GW Design. Together they've worked on several restaurants, but currently are focused on high-end residential interiors, as well as furniture. As Dominic now lives in Los Angeles, they have become a bicoastal office, with not only projects in New York and California, but throughout the country, and in Europe. Currently GW Design is facilitating the renovation of homes in Aspen and Miami for the famed French DJ David Guetta. Their approach to design centers around a modern aesthetic, warmed up through the use of natural materials, and the tweaking of more traditional motifs. In addition to his practice, Khalid is currently revisiting his background in painting through his participation in local art fairs. It's his belief that both these disciplines provide a cross fertilization that sets the tone for all his creative endeavors.
